The Rose of Versailles Meets Saga: Miyuki Sawashiro, Aya Hirano, Toshiyuki Toyonaga, and Kazuki Kato Voice Unique Anime Crossover

(Quote) “Versailles Saga: Visiting Rose and Saga Prefecture”, a new project of Saga Prefecture and the theatrical animation “The Rose of Versailles”, has started! The first part of the project is a special movie “Versailles Saga” featuring gorgeous voice actors will be released on January 28 (Tuesday) | Saga Prefecture Press Release

Saga Prefecture will launch the “Saga Prize!”, an information dissemination project to create “new surprises” through collaboration with companies and contents, starting with things and events in the prefecture. As part of the “Saga Prize!” project, Saga Prefecture launched the ” Versailles Saga: Visit Saga Prefecture (Versailles Saga) ” project on January 28 (Tuesday) in collaboration with the theatrical animation “The Rose of Versailles,” which will be screened on January 31 (Friday), to promote the charm of Saga Prefecture, especially its prefectural products, throughout Japan.

Special movie “Versailles Saga” parodies the theatrical animation “The Rose of Versailles“.

The centerpiece of the project is a special movie “Versailles Saga” featuring the splendid voice cast of “The Bellsborough”.

The project revolves around an original storyline in which the main characters of the theatrical animation “The Rose of Versailles” – Oscar, Marie Antoinette, Andre, and Fersen – travel to Saga Prefecture to visit the “Bara”. As the first project project, a special movie “Versailles Saga,” completed with postrecording by the splendid voice actors of the theatrical animation “The Rose of Versailles,” was released on a special website today.

Story of the special movie “Versailles Saga”

*In Japanese, “Rose” is pronounced as “Bara” (バラ).

The story of the movie begins with the question, “Can you show me a Rose(Bara) I’ve never seen before?”
Oskar is struggling to fulfill Queen Marie Antoinette’s wish, “Will you show me a rose that I have never seen before? Then, Andre informed them that there are “Roses” in Saga, and Oskar and his group set off for Saga… but the Bara(バラ) they met in Saga were all different from “Roses”. Oskar is at the mercy of not only Andre and Fersen’s misunderstandings, but also the misunderstandings of “Bara,” but he lives beautifully in order to fulfill Marie Antoinette’s wishes.

Comments from the voice cast

Comments from the voice actors of the theatrical animation “The Rose of Versailles” on the episode of misunderstanding and “The Saga of Versailles

In this movie, Miyuki Sawashiro as Oscar, Aya Hirano as Marie Antoinette, Toshiyuki Toyonaga as Andre, and Kazuki Kato as Felsen are newly recorded and performed separately from the movie.
Each voice actor presents their comments on the questions.

Question
1. Please tell us about your “misunderstanding episodes” like the “Bara” difference.
2. Please give us your message based on the highlights of the special movie “Versailles Saga”!

Miyuki Sawashiro (Oscar Francois de Jarjayes) comment

1.I was somewhat subconsciously aware that Oskar was a perfect person because of his beautiful appearance, but when I read the original work again, I found that he was quarrelsome and had a bad mouth. Hmm? I felt I could relate to the character…? This is exactly what I found in this work.

2.The very tolerant of “The Rose of Versailles” and the love for Saga…! This movie is full of love for Saga. I hope many people will enjoy this movie along with the main story.

Aya Hirano (Marie Antoinette) comment

1.When I was in elementary school, my friend and I were talking about the future and I said, “Well, there is a way for women to get eternity employment(永久就職) from now on! I was already working as a child actor at the time, so I thought that “eternity employment(永久就職)” really meant working permanently, and I used it to mean “The future is for working women! I used it to mean “The time will come when women will also work!”
When I met the friend again a few years later, she told me that she had no idea what I was talking about at the time and later realized what a child I was, but I remember being doubly embarrassed to confess that I had been mistaken in the first place.

2.Those characters from “The Rose of Versailles” are fascinated by Saga!
I also learned about the charm of Saga beef through Marie Antoinette’s dialogue, and I like it even more than before. (I love Saga beef to begin with.)
I hope that this collaboration will bring more people to know about Saga and The Rose of Versailles!

Toshiyuki Toyonaga (Andre Granier) comment

1.I often make embarrassing mistakes these days. I was so excited when I mistook a large cheese wheel for a baumkuchen and said, “Looks yummy!” It was embarrassing that I got so excited when I mistook (lol).

2.It was interesting to see her beautifully and nobly expressing her mistake, just like The Rose of Versailles (laughs).

Kazuki Kato (Hans Axel von Fersen) comment

1.Just the other day, I went to a restaurant where I had made a reservation for dinner and was told that my reservation was for tomorrow. I was so embarrassed and disappointed that I couldn’t eat it that day.

2.It’s a wonderful, slightly funny video in which the characters of The Rose of Versailles seriously explore the charms of Saga! I also love Saga city and Saga beef! I hope many people will enjoy it!
