What is the BL Sommelier Certification?
The number of examinees who have taken the test over the past five times is approximately 1,600, of which a total of 29 have passed. The average pass rate is 1.7%, which is lower than that of weather forecasters, who are known to be extremely difficult to qualify for.
In the 6th exam, there were 2,508 examinees who took the written exam, of which 36 passed, for a pass rate of 1.4%.
Furthermore, 7 people who passed the practical test became BL sommeliers. The passing rate is 0.83%, making it an extremely difficult certification to pass.

Details of the examination
The “BL Sommelier Certification Test,” which will be held for the sixth time in October 2024, is designed to test the breadth and depth of BL knowledge at the same time, and questions a wide range of BL works and general BL common knowledge, from old classics to the latest BL works.
The works that will be tested are selected mainly from popular works and works that have a certain level of recognition, such as those nominated for the “BL Award”, a general election of BL works conducted by our company every year.
In order to become a BL sommelier, one must pass not only a written test but also a practical test.
Only those who have passed the written examination can proceed to the practical examination.
What is the practical test…?
The practical test is conducted by recommending BL sommelier’s works to the monitors recruited by Chiruchiru, and the score of the practical test is determined by the feedback from the monitors.
Each examinee of the practical test introduces BL recommended by 20 monitors (1 or 2 works for each monitor).

Monitors read unread works (up to 3 works) from the list of recommended works sent to them and give feedback.
↓
Feedback evaluation is added to the score of the written test and the total score is calculated.
