Seiyu as Guest Teachers! Career Education Project of “Koe no Tsubasa”

Career Education by Voice Actors” is scheduled to be held at 27 elementary and junior high schools in Tokyo in Fiscal Year 2024!

The profession of voice acting requires a wide range of knowledge and the ability to express that knowledge through voice. Professional voice actors need to have a deep understanding of the background and psychology of the characters when reading scripts, and to accurately interpret the background of the work and the meaning of the words. They are then required to sublimate this knowledge into their performances through a variety of voice expressions and phrases. For this reason, voice actors need a lot of basic knowledge, curiosity and desire for knowledge. The more knowledgeable you are, the more profound your performance will be.
In this issue, we would like to introduce the #せいゆうほうもん (seiyu-visit) Project of “Koe no Tsubasa,” a voice actor and reading promotion activity, about reading that provides an opportunity to increase such knowledge.

What is the “Koe no Tsubasa” せいゆうほうもん (seiyu-visit) project?

Koe no Tsubasa” is a non-profit organization that engages in a variety of charitable activities centering on reading promotion. In this issue, we would like to focus on one of its activities, “Career Education by Voice Actors,” which supports children’s spiritual and emotional growth by utilizing the power of voice actors.

In this project, popular voice actors visit schools to share their dreams and hopes for the future with children through readings and job introductions. Last year, the project was held at public elementary and junior high schools and metropolitan high schools in Tokyo, and many children were inspired by the messages from the voice actors and showed positive attitudes toward their studies.

Koe no Tsubasa conveys to children the importance of reading and the importance of having dreams through a wide range of activities, including cultural exchange activities by voice actors and reading reading distribution activities. We will continue to support children’s rich growth through these activities.

Popular voice actors visit schools to talk about their own experiences and tell children about the importance of reading and careers!

When I was a child, most of the professions we saw were school teachers. Although we had a vague admiration for people working in companies and the nature of their professional work, we did not really understand what they actually did.

Koe no Tsubasa” is a unique initiative that bridges this gap.
Voice actors are dispatched as guest teachers to elementary schools in the Tokyo metropolitan area to directly inform children about a variety of careers and future possibilities. This activity provides children with new perspectives and valuable experiences, and is an important opportunity to expand their dreams and possibilities for the future.

By hearing directly from the voice actors they admire, children can learn about the diversity of professions and the beauty of pursuing their dreams. The “Koe no Tsubasa” program is more than just career education; it is a meaningful activity that stimulates children’s curiosity and potential.
